“Two roads diverged in a wood and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”
Robert Frost
American poet Robert Frost had many accolades and firsts. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry four times (the first person to accomplish this), he was the first Inaugural Poet at JFK’s inauguration in 1960, and, in the years before his death, was largely considered the United States’ unofficial poet laureate. However, the poem from which the lines above are taken has much more humble beginnings. The Road Not Taken, written in 1915, is one of Frost’s most famous poems. It originated during the many hikes Frost enjoyed with his friend in the British countryside. What started as a joke commenting on his friend’s indecision on which path to take became a philosophical observation on making choices in life and where those decisions can end up taking you. The decisions we make, both big and small, shape us into who we are and affect how we behave…and as much as we would like to redo some elements of our lives, that time has passed, so we must make the most and enjoy the path we are on. The poem ends with the above words, leaving the reader to decide if the difference was ultimately positive or negative…but it is only with time that you can ever truly know the outcome of the path you have chosen to follow…let’s hope it’s a good one.
Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Each week, I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection of music. Just like trail runs or hikes, it will be a varied and eclectic journey, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy…
Tunes that bring together good music, with a good beat and hook…along with lyrics that tell a good story with a philosophical edge, that’s my jam. This one certainly fits the bill. So, so smooth both in the message and its delivery…love it…
