Kings of the Trail #013

Welcome to Kings of the Trail #013!
Big shout out to all the competitors, volunteers and crews that made the London Marathon such a wonderful day – it’s genuinely inspiring to be involved and witness it all…a big well done to all the finishers out there!
After all that excitement and energy, this edition is slightly more focused on returning to nature and enjoying the more sedate side of life. Firstly though, we look at heart rate zones and how utilizing different zones in training can positively impact your recovery, race times and endurance levels as well as help to prevent injury… definitely worth looking into.
As for the other articles covered this week; one looks at tips for hiking and camping, another article is an in-depth look at how to be more environmentally friendly when travelling and last (but definitely not least) we look at some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Wow.
As always, please follow our social channels and share this newsletter with anyone that you think may be interested.
More to come next week, but for now, enjoy this week's edition, be safe and enjoy the trails…

Since being more attentive to my heart rate zones, with most of my running in Zone 2, I have noticed an ability to do more miles with fewer injuries. If you want to learn all about heart rate zones, then this is the article for you!

…from water bottle lanterns to avoiding ‘walrusing’ in your sleeping bag, some top ideas are here to help improve life out on the trail.

How can we change our way of travelling and seeing the world without causing such an impact – from where to go, how to get there and more – this guide will help.

OK, it’s well known around these parts that Kings of the Trail LOVE mountains! If you love a good mountain too, then check out these beauties!

Each week I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection – just like trail runs or hikes, you can be sure that it will be a varied and eclectic journey, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Combining sounds and styles such as; jazz and swing, pop and soul, folk and classical all sounds like a recipe for disaster, but not in the hands of the young up-and-coming (and certain future star); Tianna Esperanza…this particular track is a smooth, funky ride with a considerable dollop of attitude that you need when out on the trails!
