Well, I am glad that is over…I don’t mean a running or hiking challenge or something that has tested my physical endurance, but the fact that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are done with! My inbox has been bombarded with offer emails, countdowns to offers, offers ending soon and all sorts of attention-grabbing missives over the last week or two that need a particular endurance to get through. Hopefully, this email can be a little break from all that hard work…

"The men who learn endurance, are they who call the whole world, brother.”

Charles Dickens

This week endurance takes centre stage; whether world champions questioning the perceived wisdom on long runs, how to embrace the suck and develop an attitude that can help endurance or how to build real stamina and resilience and continue to run and hike after you have children…keep going and read on!

Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Even if ditching the long run is beneficial, you still need to cover the distance to get the training benefit, but looking for new ideas and approaches could be the answer for some…

Trail running reveals an extraordinary array of challenges and recent studies have brilliantly illuminated the fundamental ingredients necessary for embracing and thriving out on the trails…

If children come along do the outdoor adventures have to stop and if not, what is needed to keep getting out and exploring with the little ones? Aside from the obvious requirement for bags of endurance!

The Marines have a well-used saying; “get comfortable with being uncomfortable”…that ability to find a way of coping with hard situations is one of the keys to helping you power through and achieve your fitness and adventure goals…

Each week I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection – just like trail runs or hikes, you can be sure that it will be a varied and eclectic journey, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

“I’m not lost, I’m on an adventure, I’m just on a quest for my treasure.” Russ sums up people’s journeys in this playful tune. Swirling strings and chilled acoustic guitar may not be what you expect on a rap track, but this laid-back, soulful and lyrically smooth track is a pleasant surprise...
