It can be hard when perpetually on the move; constantly having to be ticking things off lists, getting to appointments and dealing with life, to take some time to pause, take a breath and relax. You can read countless stories of athletes getting burnt out from overdoing it and not taking the chance to rest and recover, whilst there are just as many extolling the substantial benefits of sleep and its significance to any routine. The truth is that if you don’t take a beat every once in a while, you may not realise what is out there around you waiting to be discovered…
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Ferris Bueller
This week, I firmly encourage you to take a breath, pause for a short break and enjoy the articles I have selected for your enjoyment; from the phenomenon of cloud inversion to the best ways to avoid burnout in your daily life, from yoga poses for runners to the best hiking hotels in the world. Hopefully, there is something here to help you find a comfortable balance and make sure you don’t miss the beauty of what could be in plain sight.
Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Is not that rare or unusual, but there is always something special and magical when hiking up through the clouds and suddenly emerging into the clear air above the clouds…
Add a few of these great yoga poses, selected for runners, to your routine to help aid your running and feel great along the way…
Don’t over-exert yourself or tax your brain on this one too much, but there might be more to just stopping and chilling to get the most benefits from rest and recovery days and avoid the dreaded burnout…
OK, hear me out…how about combining the serenity of a hotel break surrounded by nature, with a mind-clearing hike to get you there…sounds good? Then check out these spectacular hotels around the world…

Each week I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection – just like trail runs or hikes, you can be sure that it will be a varied and eclectic journey, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
If you can get a moment to stop and take in what’s around, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover…as was the case with this track, which has had repeated plays since the first time I heard it on a playlist. It is also a great soundtrack to taking a breath and relaxing, as it’s a beautiful, low-tempo track, which washes over you softly, but be warned that you may be humming for a while after you hear it…now sit back, enjoy and breathe…
