It’s the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games this evening which sees the 33rd version of this wonderful tournament officially begin. The values of the International Olympic Committee are pretty strong; excellence, respect and friendship. Not a bad set of values to go by, even if the Games often have plenty of controversy around them. It is believed that the footrace was the only sport on show for the first three ancient ‘Olympics’. A far cry from today’s 329 events in 32 different sports. There is an attempt to get ultramarathon trail running included for the 2032 Games in Brisbane…so enough from me, I better get training for that one…enjoy the Games!

Each week I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection – just like trail runs or hikes, you can be sure that it will be a varied and eclectic journey, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
I have cheated here a little, as this is not a tune related to the Summer Olympics, but the Winter version. Even saying that is cheating a little too as this is from a soundtrack about one particular group of athletes: The Jamaican bobsled team from the 1988 Calgary Olympics.
