“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

John F. Kennedy

100 is a significant number in life and sports. Living to be 100 years old is considered a remarkable and much-celebrated achievement. In ultrarunning, it’s about completing 100km or racing for 100 miles. The 100m sprint is considered the highlight of any athletics competition. In cricket, a century is considered a notable and important score…so it is with that in mind that I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for hitting the milestone of 100 editions of this newsletter. I am truly thankful to everyone who takes the time to read and interact with Kings of the Trail and for the wider community of runners, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts who support this newsletter. So, with Kennedy’s words in mind, I will keep this short and try to continue living by these words of appreciation by bringing you the best stories, music and vibes every Friday; helping to kick off your adventurous weekends in the best possible way…

Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Each week, I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection of music. Like trail runs or hikes, the playlist will be varied and eclectic, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy…

For today’s centenary newsletter, it just had to be a numerical-themed song, which meant it had to be this one. This classic tune popularised reggae around the world, and incidentally, the numbers referred to add up to 100 (54-46 was Toots’ number when he was wrongly locked up.) Serendipity has worked her magic!
