Failure is defined as the inability to achieve certain goals or meet established standards. In reality, failure means different things and impacts people in various ways. For most of us, however, I think the biggest fear is not of failure itself but fear of what any potential failure means socially. Whether this is a feeling you will disappoint others or people will view you in a more negative light if you fail. In this situation, the Spotlight Effort is in full force. We believe other people are much more focused and attentive to what we are doing, whether succeeding or failing than they are. This social aspect of failure can be the reason we hold back from attempting a challenge. But, failure is necessary for growth. The best at what they do view failures as both chances to learn themselves but also opportunities to help and support others to grow and achieve their individual goals. If you surround yourself with the right people who can provide you the safety and room to fail without judgment, you will have the chance to hit your targets, however many attempts it might take…

Some weeks the track for this section picks itself, and this week, this was certainly the case. When thinking on the subject of failing and people’s fear of failure, this track was in my mind. I am not really an Ian Brown fan, but I do love a bit of UNKLE…it’s also a banging remix and the lyrics to this are clever if you listen in…F.E.A.R…
