"People are always looking for the single magic bullet that will completely change everything. There is no single magic bullet. Progress is about bridging the gap between what we observe and what we can imagine — one careful step at a time.”
Temple Grandin
I like this quote because it highlights two key ideas that anyone can implement to improve and strive to be better: firstly, that consistency is crucial - taking ‘one careful step at a time,’ and secondly, that there often exists a gap between expectations and reality. This gap can be a major source of problems, stress and disappointment. Through careful examination and realistic ideas, we can set goals and targets that are achievable, but if not, then disappointment and frustration become commonplace and targets are abandoned for fear of never being achievable. Even though Temple Grandin herself studied and examined the life and role animals play in our lives and how they should be treated, she clearly also learned a lot about human behaviour and how we can improve over time…
