The British Army has a saying, known as the seven Ps: Prior Preparation and Practice Prevents Piss Poor Performance. I admit it’s not as clever as Mr Wilson’s version (and a little bit more rugged), but it conveys the same idea. This concept is extremely suitable for trail running, hiking, biking and outdoor adventures of any kind. While it is great to hope for the best outcome and enter into any challenge with a positive mindset, at the same time, you have to consider, evaluate and prepare for the possible negative situations you may encounter along the way. Don’t get too caught up in considering the what-ifs, though; studies have shown that optimists live longer…
