“Nature holds the key to our aesthetic, intellectual, cognitive and even spiritual satisfaction.”
E.O. Wilson
Mr E.O. Wilson knows a thing or two about nature. Among many other things he accomplished in his amazing life, he was instrumental in creating the Encyclopedia of Life, with the goal of creating a database including information on all the living species on earth (about 1.9 million, give or take). He was responsible for discovering and contributing information on over 400 species of ants for the project. This week, in honour of such a man and scientist, we focus on some great stories about people getting out there and doing amazing things in nature. From incredible travellers to octogenarian ultramarathoners, and an article on running and exploring while on holiday and seeing something new to get you out and satisfied…
Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

J.R. Harris has pretty much been there, done it and has a story to tell about it. He doesn’t aim to set records or crave the limelight, but wants to see new cultures and experience the wonder of nature…

Ultra athlete, David Roche, is an open book on his emotions, motivations and training regimen. What happens when a casual runner tries to do it his way?

No spoilers here, just go ahead and read about this incredible guy…

Running while on holiday can be more demanding, with more decisions, unknown sights and routes and new places to navigate…but that can make it all the more rewarding…

Each week, I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection of music. Like trail runs or hikes, the playlist will be varied and eclectic, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy…
A different genre from last week, but there is no less attitude and verve with this new release called Next Stop. Mal Devisa is the performing name and alter ego of Deja Carr, but whatever you call her, she more than delivers on this lively, loud (and a little sweary) track. Get up and gooooooo…
