"Many a trip continues long after movement in time and space have ceased."
John Steinbeck
That’s the wonderful thing about travelling, or taking on challenges and adventures; the memories and feelings associated with them stay with us much longer after we have unpacked and settled back into our routine. I met with an old friend I hadn’t seen for many, many years, and our chat quickly turned to the places and things we were lucky enough to have visited and experienced all those years ago - the nostalgia was immediate, but so was the sense of being able to recollect the emotions these events caused at the time. This was profound and inspiring. This ease with which the same feeling could be ‘recreated’ really helped to remind us of the fun and joy these events brought us. The power of travel and the impact of tackling an adventure or challenge should not be viewed only through the lens of the trip itself, but rather the benefits and memories that can last for years into the future and bring us that same feeling long after we are home…
Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Each week, I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection of music. Like trail runs or hikes, the playlist will be varied and eclectic, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy…
Ben Böhmer is listed online as a ‘German DJ and music producer,’ but he is so much more than that. When talking about the origins of this tune, he says the piano melody had stayed with him for many years, until he was ready to rework it into this lovely piece of music. Let it drift around you and lift you up in its nostalgic beauty and ease into the optimism it creates…it will stay with you long after you hear it…
