"Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point. Climb slowly, steadily, enjoying each passing moment; and the view from the summit will serve as a fitting climax for the journey.”

Harold V. Melchert

I couldn’t find much information on our quote author today, other than that he was a writer and poet. Not that it matters, as his quote is a brilliant one and should provide a reminder that we all need from time to time. We should take a moment to reflect and appreciate where we are currently, where we have come from and the amazing achievements made along the way. Too often, we lose ourselves in the pursuit of a goal with a dedicated focus and tunnel vision, but fail to see our personal growth and development that has happened along the way. Always keep the end goal in mind, but make sure to take a breath and enjoy the scenery from where you are right now…

Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Each week, I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection of music. Like trail runs or hikes, the playlist will be varied and eclectic, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy…

I have been listening to the (amazing) podcast on the life and music of Fela Kuti this week...so when I heard this brilliant tune from Little Simz, I couldn't help but feel the vibes and sounds that Fela created during his emergence as a musical master coming through blended with her own cutting lyrics and modern musical edge…
