“Adversity, if you allow it to, will fortify you and make you the best you can be.”
Kerri Walsh Jennings
Records don’t get broken easily, they don’t fall without serious hard work, dedication and some setbacks along the way. The last few days in the running world have seen results that have defied expectations and set new standards of what is possible for humans to achieve in endurance sports. Sebastian Sawe broke the holy grail of marathon running, a sub two hour competitive marathon and Rachel Entrekin produced a performance that blew away the previous course best time and the entire field at the 250 mile, Cocodona 250 ultra. Kerri Walsh Jennings also broke records with her teammate, Misty May-Treanor, on the beach volleyball court. She won three Olympic gold medals and set the record with a win streak of 112 matches during her illustrious career. What do these amazing athletes have in common? they have the will to keep working towards their goal and not letting adversity stand in their way…

A funky, lively little number this week (with some bad language!) Ren & The Skinner Brothers have stirred up this quality tune that bounces around with numerous breaks and tempo changes, plus a good ol’ blast of the horn section, which always gets me moving…
Each week, I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection of music. Like trail runs or hikes, the playlist will be varied and eclectic, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy…
