Kings of the Trail #041

Updated: Feb 10, 2024

Like the incredible swathes of marathon runners swarming the five boroughs of New York City last week, we are all constantly in motion. Each day is a new opportunity and with it come new situations and experiences that can change and shape us, whether we are in rest or play. It is in this constant motion that we can attempt to embrace the subtle shifts within, us both positive and negative, and thrive…

"Every day, you reinvent yourself. You’re always in Motion. But you decide every day: forward or backward. "

James Altucher

To help with recognising the constant motion and being able to use it in the best possible way, maybe take some advice from the Norwegians and their connectedness with nature by practising friluftsliv or take your dog out to enjoy the next camping trip…and don’t let the darker nights slow you down with some solid advice on running in the dark…

Until next week, be safe and enjoy the trails...

Take a leaf from the Norwegian’s book and learn the art of friluftsliv, or how to cultivate and enjoy a spiritual connection with nature. It could hold the key to health and happiness…

Dogs and camping? Sounds like a great combination! Be sure to have the best possible experience with these tips and tricks for camping with your furry friends

As the nights draw in and the days get shorter here in the northern hemisphere, it becomes important to stay safe in the dark so you can continue exploring and keep being active…

New changes to the registration, qualification and participation of UTMB races for adaptive athletes are being introduced. While some say it’s not enough, hopefully, it will be a start towards easier and greater inclusion for all...

Each week I update the Kings of the Trail playlist with a new selection – just like trail runs or hikes, you can be sure that it will be a varied and eclectic journey, but hopefully, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

This week let’s take it down a notch, not in mood, but definitely in tempo…this reworked version of a dance number swirls and builds beautifully, with strings, vocals and the subtle swelling beat…this tune is not one for the tempo runs, but great for the time when you need to take a step back, breathe or maybe practise friluftsliv!
